James Hewitt

Hewitt was born into a services family in Londonderry, Northern Ireland. He was educated at Millfield and Sandhurst, before joining the Life Guards in 1987. He commanded a tank squadron with distinction during the Gulf War and his valour earned him a Mention in Despatches. He left the army in 1993 to pursue an equestrian career in Devon.
