James Carlisle was formerly a full-time investment analyst with the private client arm of Robert Fleming Group, where he was head of UK equities research. As an analyst, James was lucky to be able to make his early investment mistakes in an environment where no one noticed--another mistake on the London stockmarket is like another grain of sand on the beach. But he soon became frustrated with the short-term approach and he found his way to the UK offshoot of the Motley Fool, a website which preaches the merits of value-based, long-term investment. Energised by this breath of fresh air, he wrote and edited articles on all areas of finance and investment and co-authored the book: "The Motley Fool UK Investment Guide." James now works at the "Intelligent Investor" as the editor and the occasional writer of various topics. See less
