Joe won an award for his flash fiction piece, "Psychology for Dummies". That success motivated him to call upon his fond memories of teaching, which served as a backdrop to his debut novel, "Mr. Pizza". He is a member of the Authors Guild, and attended The Writing Center, in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. He's also a writer for Nolo.com.
