Hsu-Ming Teo is a cultural historian and novelist based in Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. Hsu-Ming Teo is a cultural historian and novelist based in Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. Her academic publications include Desert Passions: Orientalism and Romance Novels (2012), the edited volume Cultural History in Australia (2003), the forthcoming Ashgate Companion to Popular Romance Fiction (2018), and range of articles and book chapters on the history of Orientalism, travel, British imperialism, fiction, romantic love and popular culture. She is an associate editor of the Journal of Popular Romance Studies and an editorial board member of the Journal of Australian Studies. In 2014 she guest-edited a special issue on the popular culture of romantic love for the Journal of Popular Romance Studies.
