Dr Hinemoa Elder has lived on Waiheke Island for more than 20 years. She is a child and adolescent psychiatrist who has worked in Starship Hospital's Child and Family, and Mother, Baby Units and various community clinics. Dr Hinemoa Elder has lived on Waiheke Island for more than 20 years. She is a child and adolescent psychiatrist who has worked in Starship Hospital's Child and Family, and Mother, Baby Units and various community clinics. She also provides youth forensic court reports and neuropsychiatric assessment and treatment of traumatic brain injury in private practice. Hinemoa is a deputy psychiatry member of the New Zealand Mental Health Review Tribunal. She is also a Maori Strategic Leader for the Centre of Research Excellence (CoRE) for the Ageing Brain. Hinemoa has been involved with the media for many years - a former children's TV presenter for 3.45 Live, a daily live show in the early 1990s, and then of the Bugs Bunny Show. She has had a weekly newspaper column in the Sunday Star-Times, and is often interviewed on national television and current affairs programmes about her work in mental health.
