Henry Cabot Lodge
About the Author American Henry Cabot Lodge (1850 - 1924) was a Republican Senator and historian from Massachusetts. He was educated at Harvard and was a long-time friend of Theodore Roosevelt. Lodge is best known for his positions on foreign policy and for his battle with President Woodrow Wilson in 1919 over the Treaty of Versailles. Lodge wanted Congressional control of declarations of war but Wilson refused. As a result, the US did not join the League of Nations.
