Professor Henry C. Clark is Senior Lecturer and Program Director of the Political Economy Project at Dartmouth College. An early modern historian, he is the author or editor of seven previous books, including La Rochefoucauld and the Language of Unmasking in Seventeenth-Century France (Droz, 1994), and Compass and Society, Commerce and Absolutism in Old-Regime France (Lexington Books, 2007).
