The roots of the story began with his grandmother Beryl Kennedy, who knew Dr. Martin Luther King (MLK) personally, his mother Valerie, and his deceased father Wilbur William Kennedy Donnie who along with his grandmother Beryl marched with Dr. King during the turbulent 1960s civil rights movement.
