Gordon was born and raised in a suburb of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and earned an M.B.A. in Entrepreneurship from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
