George Fix
George Fix (1939-2002) was a pioneer in finite elements and phase field methods. He received his Ph.D. from Harvard in 1968. Over the span of his career he was chairman of the mathematics departments of Carnegie Mellon University, University of Texas at Arlington and Clemson University.
