Fraser Lauchlan, PhD, is an educational psychologist, currently working in a bilingual school in Cagliari, Italy. He has many years of experience of working as an educational psychologist in a local authority setting in the United Kingdom. From 2006 until 2009, he worked at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, where he was responsible for the training of educational psychologists and for those undertaking their doctorate in this field. He then worked at the University of Cagliari where he conducted a series of research studies that investigated bilingualism and two minority languages, Gaelic and Sardinian, in Scotland and Sardinia. He still holds a position as Honorary Lecturer at the University of Strathclyde. Maria del Carmen Parafita Couto, currently teaching at Leiden University, Netherlands, received her PhD in Linguistics at the University of Kansas in 2005. After three years as Assistant Professor at Kenyon College, United States, teaching Spanish and linguistics, she joined the Economic and Social Research Council's Centre for Research on Bilingualism, Wales, as a project researcher. In 2012 she moved to the School of Humanities at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, as a faculty member.
