Franklin E. In retirement he has become particularly interested in the history of the early Northwest Territory east of the Mississippi River, also known as the "Old North-West," especially the early history of Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Western Pennsylvania writers, many of them pioneer women writing and publishing historical autobiographical journals. His latest book, Pioneers of Ecological Restoration: The People and Legacy of the University of Wisconsin Arboretum, was published in 2012. See less
