Franklin E. Court, Emeritus Professor of English at Northern Illinois University, is the author of five books and a score of journal and magazine articles mostly on subjects related to British literary history and the history of English studies both in the UK and the USA. In retirement he has become particularly interested in the history of the early Northwest Territory east of the Mississippi River, also known as the "Old North-West," especially the early history of Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Western Pennsylvania writers, many of them pioneer women writing and publishing historical autobiographical journals. His latest book, Pioneers of Ecological Restoration: The People and Legacy of the University of Wisconsin Arboretum, was published in 2012. See less
