Frank Palmer
Frank Palmer is Professor Emeritus of the University of Reading. He was educated at New College and Merton College, Oxford (1940-49), with a break for war service, and was a Lecturer in Linguistics at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London (1950-60), Professor and Head of Department of Linguistics at The University College of North Wales (1960-65) and Professor and Head of Department of Linguistic Science at the University of Reading (1965-87). He is a Fellow of the British Academy, a Member of the Academia Europaea and an Honorary Doctor of Letters.
