American writer and editor Elizabeth Heilman Brooke lives in Japan and is an ardent student of Japan's natural and cultural heritage. As a contributing writer for NHK Japan broadcasting, The New York Times, International Herald Tribune and Art News magazine, she has shared her delight in the pounding of a taiko drum, the grace of a sliding shoji screen, the mystifying, but rewarding rituals of Japanese bathing.
