In 1967, Mr. Mayer was Managing Partner of a hedge fund, Park Westlake Associates and also assisted in the management of a hedge portfolio for A. W. Jones & Co., the first hedge fund ever established. In 1969, Mr. Mayer developed the idea of an open ended mutual fund to be managed as a hedge fund. This concept became a reality via the public offering of the Hartwell and Campbell Leverage Fund, with an initial offering of $75 million. Mr. Mayer managed this fund until leaving the firm in 1970 to become Managing Partner of Winton Company. In 1976, Mr. Mayer formed Lynch & Mayer, Inc. an asset management firm. Their assets quickly grew to over $7 billion. Mr. Mayer went on to manage Ivy & Associates, and the Fulcrum Associates hedge funds. He is currently an advisor and consultant to four hedge funds and the CEO and Founder of Mayer Capital Advisors. See less
