His novel El corrido de Dante (Arte Publico 2007) has been published in seven different countries and languages. It was translated to English as Dante's Ballad and to Italian as La Ballata di Dante Dante's Ballad was considered the best novel in Spanish language written in the United States in 2007 and the author received the Latino International Prize of Novel of the USA. Gioconda Belli and Isabel Allende shared the Second Prize. His novel Vallejo en los infiernos is the first biographical novel written about the life of Cesar Vallejo, one of the most transcendental poets of the XX century in the Spanish language.
