Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Er ist Autor des Controllingstandardwerkes A1/4ber integrierte Planungs- und Kontrollsysteme mit integrierter Planungs- und Kontrollrechnung (PuK a" 6. Auflage, 2001) und vieler weiterer einschlAgiger VerAffentlichungen. Nach seinem Studium des Wirtschaftsingenieurwesens und EisenhA1/4ttenwesens und mehrjAhriger Konzernpraxis erhielt er Rufe an die UniversitAten bzw. Technischen Hochschulen in GieAen, Aachen, Berlin und Kiel und absolvierte GastdozententAtigkeiten im Ausland. Zusammen mit Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Knut Bleicher grA1/4ndete er 1975 das Institut fA1/4r Unternehmungsplanung (IUP), das seinen Sitz in GieAen und Berlin hat. Er ist emeritierter Professor fA1/4r Industrielles Management und Controlling an der Justus-Liebig-UniversitAt GieAen und langjAhriger Honorarprofessor an der Technischen UniversitAt Berlin, zudem Mitglied in mehreren AufsichtsrAten/BeirAten in der Industrie und in Forschungsinstitutionen. Ferner gehArt er dem Beirat der Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft fA1/4r Betriebswirtschaft e. V. an. Professor BERNARD TAYLOR is Executive Director of the Centre for Board Effectiveness, which offers teaching and research in corporate governance at Henley Management College, where he was formerly head of faculty in Strategy and International Management. He has founded two international journals Long Range Planning and The Journal of General Management and produced 24 books. He also established two European Councils in Corporate Strategy and Board Effectiveness for theConference Board Europe. At Henley he was a member of the team which produced Standards for the Board, the government-sponsored study of the roles and responsibilities of British boards of directors. He organises the leading International Conference on Corporate Governance and Board Leadership which takes place at Henley in October each year. He is also External Examiner for the Institute of Directorsa (TM) Diploma in Company Direction. Before becoming an academic he was in Marketing with Procter & Gamble and in Education and Training with Rank Xerox. He is also a consultant in Corporate Strategy to companies and public organisations in Britain and overseas. His latest book with Philip Stiles is Boards at Work: How Directors View their Roles and Responsibilities, Oxford University Press, 2001.
