Dee Appleby
Dee Appleby began her career as a French translator, graduating from McGill University in 1980. Dee's poetry and short stories are featured in the anthology In the Vale (Studio Georgeville, 2022). She also published two books on Nova Scotia artists, From Land and Sea, Nova Scotia's Landscape Artists (Nimbus, 2009) and its sequel, Nova Scotia's Contemporary Artists, Volume II (Friesens, 2010). Dee Appleby began her career as a French translator, graduating from McGill University in 1980. Dee's poetry and short stories are featured in the anthology In the Vale (Studio Georgeville, 2022). She also published two books on Nova Scotia artists, From Land and Sea, Nova Scotia's Landscape Artists (Nimbus, 2009) and its sequel, Nova Scotia's Contemporary Artists, Volume II (Friesens, 2010). From Land and Sea was presented to international delegates as a gift from the Government of Nova Scotia at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Dee hosted the TV series "The Blank Canvas" which aired on Eastlink Community Television in May 2022 (Skye-Larke Productions). The series features interviews with well-known artists from across Nova Scotia. From 2014-2017, she conducted art history tours to museums in Canada, the US, and Europe, and taught art history through the Seniors College Association of Nova Scotia. Dee lives in Truro, Nova Scotia with Brian, her husband of forty years. She has a natural affinity for the written word and enjoys writing prose and poetry. See less
