David Lipscomb

A native of Tennessee, David Lipscomb (1831-1917) was a minister in the churches of Christ, editor of the Gospel Advocate for half a century, and co-founder of Nashville Bible School (now Lipscomb University). Formerly a supporter of American democracy, Lipscomb's views on the Christian and government changed as a result of the divisiveness of the American Civil War.
