David Bosworth is a New Zealander, and lives in Auckland. He has a special interest and liking for the Pacific region, whether it be the more remote parts of Polynesia, or the coast of California or the islands of Hawaii. He sees the Pacific Ocean as a lake which binds together the nations whose shores are washed by its waves. He has sailed catamarans, and has scuba dived, in different parts of the Pacific, and has a special interest in traditional Polynesian navigation. He has practised as a lawyer in New Zealand (including on environmental issues), and the enchanting tropical islands of Vanuatu. Bugley and Fire Demon Island is his first book. It is the first of the series Bugley and the Rim of Fire, set in different locations around the Pacific Ocean's Rim of Fire, a region characterised by shifting tectonic plates, volcanoes, and geysers. His interest in the Rim of Fire began when he grew up on the shoreline of Auckland harbour, surrounded by beautiful volcanic hills, lakes, and islands. Dusty, the dog in the series, is based upon his much loved friend, Rusty, a Jack Russell terrier. See less
