Dashiell Hammett

Dashiell Hammett (1894-1961) was an American mystery writer best known for his novels The Maltese Falcon and The Thin Man , and he is credited for having created the hard-boiled detective school of fiction. Hammett drew inspiration for his mystery fiction from his time working as a detective for the Pinkerton Agency.
