Dr. Darrel Ray is a psychologist and student of religion and society. His fundamentalist upbringing uniquely positions him to describe the infection techniques of priests, ministers, evangelists, etc. Raised in Wichita, Kansas in a fundamentalist church, he has observed and studied all kinds of religion. He holds a MA in religion, Doctorate in psychology and his undergraduate work was in sociology and anthropology.
