DANIEL STIH is a Council-Certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC) and Certified Microbial Consultant (CMC), board-awarded by the American Council for Accredited Certification. Stih has owned a microscope since 1978 when, as teenagers, he and his brothers were in the newspaper for setting up a laboratory in the laundry room of their parent's home. He studied at the McCrone Research Institute and holds a certificate for completing courses that include Advanced Indoor Air Quality: Advanced Fungal Spore Identification. The microscope he uses was set up for him by Los Alamos National Laboratories.Stih is an aerospace engineer and worked at Motorola for eleven years before he quit his job, moved to a small town, and became a handyman. He got ill from working in construction and decided to find out what was making him and some of the people that lived in the houses he went into sick. From this experience, he wrote Healthy Living Spaces: Top 10 Hazards Affecting Your Health. It became a best-seller after he was interviewed on 92 KQRS, Minneapolis' most listened to morning show. He has been interviewed on over one-hundred radio and television programs. He has performed thousands of tests in every type of building, with every kind of test one can imagine, and determined which ones work and which ones can lead to incorrect conclusions. He's performed experiments to characterize the methods and equipment a mold inspector might use to test for mold, and is an expert on the Wall-Chek.He developed courses approved for mold inspectors and remediators in the State of Florida for continuing education credits. He partnered with Los Alamos National Laboratories to study products used to treat mold. He taught courses for the National Kitchen and Bath Association. He was hired by the Dyson corporation to develop community service announcements regarding allergies and how to make your house healthier. He has taken college courses in residential construction and built houses for Habitat for Humanity. He was a certified nursing assistant in the state of Arizona for two years. See less
