THE CONNECTICUT FOREST AND PARK ASSOCIATION (CFPA) is the first private, nonprofit, member-based organization established in Connecticut, and the founder and maintainer of over 825 miles of Blue-Blazed Hiking Trails. In 1929, CFPA's Trails Committee proposed a radical idea--establish and maintain hundreds of miles of walking trails by a workforce of volunteers organized and trained by CFPA.
