I have not so much moved through life as slipped by alongside of it, like a fugitive. To ignore every goal reverenced by man: such has been my modus vivendi. I have no affiliations, no profession; there are no titles attached to my name; and I would even go so far as to say, at the risk of sounding excessive, that I am too unsynchronized with the material realm to have a terrestrial career. Who knows if at some time in the future my fleeting appearance upon the stage of this world might not be found classified among the forms of mirage? See less
