Chingyen LIU is a children's book writer and hosts radio and TV shows. He is a two-time winner of the Golden Bell Award in Taiwan for the best children's TV show host. When he first met Yipei, on which Woodpecker Girl is based, he was amazed at her power, talent, and drive to overcome her physical limitations due to cerebral palsy.
