Catherine Salmon received her BSc in biology in 1992 and her PhD in evolutionary psychology in 1997 from McMaster University. She is currently professor of psychology and director of the Human-Animal Studies program at the University of Redlands. She is the coauthor of Warrior Lovers: Erotic Fiction, Evolution and Female Sexuality (with Donald Symons) and The Secret Power of Middle Children: How Middleborns Can Harness Their Unexpected and Remarkable Abilities (with Katrin Schumann). She has coedited four volumes with Oxford and Cambridge University Presses and over 70 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters. Her primary research interests include birth order, parental investment, and sibling conflict; reproductive suppression and dieting behavior; and male and female sexuality, particularly as expressed in pornography and other erotic genres.
