Cai Shen earned a PhD. in Chemistry from the University of St Andrews, UK, in 2008. Sequentially, He continued his research at the University of Maryland, Heidelberg University and Aarhus University. He was an Associate Professor and then Professor at the Ningbo institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Science during 2013-2022. He is on the editorial board for a number of Journals including Journal of Microscopy , Materials and Energies . His research interesting mainly focuses on lithium-ion batteries and application of scanning probe microscopy. He has been admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) in 2022.
