LTC (RET) BRIAN BIRDWELL is one of the seven burn victims of the terrorist attack on the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Brian graduated in 1984 as a distinguished military graduate of Lamar University through the Army ROTC. He was deployed for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and earned the Bronze Star for his action in the Gulf War. At the time of the September 11 attack, LTC (RET) Birdwell was serving on the Department of the Army staff at the Pentagon as the Executive Officer to the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management.
