Bonnie Brooks - Author Early in her career, she taught young children at Saugatuck Nursery School in Westport, Ct. She left teaching to move into her production career starting as Cablevision Access Coordinator for Westport, Ct. One of her film projects, "Art Theme and Variation", interviews five artists who lived and worked in Ct. These artists included Paul Cadmus, Reuben Nakian, Lila Howard, Ann Chernow and Jean Woodham. "Art Theme and Variation" is now archived at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. Bonnie was hired as the Media Director for the "The Discovery Museum in Bridgeport, Ct. which is the largest interactive art and science museum between New York and Boston. There she produced "From Page to Screen" a retrospective exhibition for Weston Woods. The exhibit included animation cels, original pieces of art, photographs, corresponding picture books and the films, which played on six video monitors throughout the first floor of the museum. Today, Weston Woods is part of Scholastic Book Publishers. In 1988 Bonnie created "Rock and Roll: Art and Artifacts" the first exhibition covering the relationship between art and rock'n'roll featuring rock memorabilia from the 50's thru the 80's. This exhibit included a Jimi Hendrix guitar, the original model of the Yellow submarine used to animate the Beatles feature film, photos by Annie Leibovitz, works by Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Ron Wood. It was during this exhibit that Bonnie re-connected with a Junior High School friend (now husband) Harvey Brooks. This is Bonnie's first children's book dedicated to her 14 grandchildren and her three daughters who have given her more than she has given them! See less
