Bob Weis was born in Aurora, Illinois in 1950, the youngest of four siblings. He earned a Communication Arts degree from St. Norbert College. His varied career includes; managing a drive-through bank locked up with eight female tellers (his next book), production scheduling, managing buildings and grounds for educational facilities, and designing kitchens. He was a regular opinion contributor to the "Common Sense" column in The Aurora Beacon News. When he was growing up, his parents, Wally and Frances Weis, and Joan, Jack, Linda, and Bob took their annual family vacation in Land O' Lakes, Wisconsin. It was these childhood memories that became the theme of his book, How to Survive a Vacation. His other interests include; woodworking (when his garage is clean), reading, Bible study, singing, watching sports, gardening, and special times with his wife, Lynda. She is the one who comes up with many fun and interesting outings. When asked what prompted him to write his book, Bob replied, "Having a heart-attack. I always wanted to write about my family vacations, but never found the time. God allowed me to have some health issues that provided me that time. He knew what was in my heart, and enabled me to experience one of the best times of my life." Bob and Lynda moved from Aurora to Knoxville, Tennessee.
