Captain Bob Bell was born to hard working parents in a small Southern town, Cairo, GA, with a rural family background. They wanted him to get a good education that he could use in service. Bob graduated from Emory University, college (1965) and law school (1967), in Atlanta, GA. He was considering joining the Navy as a lawyer (JAG), but he was not eligible as he could not pass the vision requirement because of poor eyesight. Bob joined the GA Air National Guard so he could satisfy his military obligation and finish law school. After graduation while working in Tallahassee, FL near his hometown, he was re-assigned to an Army Reserve Unit and was glad to serve as a Private First Class. Although Bob was serving satisfactorily in spite of his limited eyesight, one of the officers would not leave him alone and got the Commanding Officer to order Bob to apply for a commission as a lawyer in the Navy. Bob knew this was an exercise in futility, but he did as he was told. He traveled to Atlanta, d GA for the medical examination where the doctor informed Bob that he passed the physical. Bob argued with the doctor as this was apparently an obvious mistake, and Bob did not want to continue to waste time. However, the doctor corrected Bob. He said there was a recent change in the regulations providing for a waiver of the vision requirement for reserve legal commissions. So Bob was fatefully ushered into the Navy, fulfilling his dream, as a result of circumstances apparently orchestrated from Above. He served over 18 years and was looking forward to retirement in less than 2 years when a terrible tragedy occurred in July, 1984. The death of Bob, his wife and daughter and the encounter with the angel at that time changed his life forever when he was sent back to life with missions to perform. This story of his re-directed, energized life following the encounter with the angel is told in his book "Between Life and Eternity", covering related events for the following 27 years, providing inspirational insight into national defense, family life. serving and sharing with others and many other areas that show how we can trust in God in this life and for eternity See less
