Betsy Newman, M.A. M.Ed., is Senior Project Director of Cygnus Corporation, Inc., Rockville, MD. She is a nationally recognized educator, author, and consultant with more than 30 years experience in organizational development, leadership and executive development, career development, coaching, and facilitation and course design. Ms. Newman directs Cygnus Corporation's Federal Learning and Development Support Contracts. Currently she manages a staff of 6 full-time professional personnel and some 30 certified professional facilitators and executive coaches on a project that provides course development, facilitation and organizational consulting services for over 250 classes and coaching assignments yearly. Before joining Cygnus, Ms. Newman was engaged in her own executive leadership and career coaching corporation that provided leadership training and career coaching to numerous clients such as Deloitte & Touche, Procter & Gamble, Dow Jones and Company, the Fidelity Group, Paragon Health Services, Xavier University, General Electric, and the Kendle Corporation. In addition to her teaching and consulting skills, she is the author of four books on career development and has published articles in many professional journals and magazines, including Training and Development Journal, Career Planning and Adult Development Journal, Resources in Education and The American Personnel and Guidance Journal. Ms. Newman has recently presented at the International Conference on Positive Aging, and was the keynote speaker at a conference on "Making the Most of Your Retirement" at the University of Kentucky, and has presented at Retirement Syposiums at the University of Pittsburgh and State College Pennsylvania.
