Bernard Cribbins , OBE, is an English actor, voice-over artist, and musical comedian with a career spanning over seventy years. He is known to British audiences as the narrator in The Wombles , a 1970s BBC children's television show, and for other many television appearances in such programs as The Avengers, Fawlty Towers, Worzel Gummidge , and others. He also recorded several successful novelty records in the early 1960s and was a regular and prolific performer on the BBC's Jackanory from 1966 to 1991. In 2009, he was awarded the Children's BAFTA Special Award for his work in children's television. Aside from his work in children's entertainment, Cribbins may be best known for his role as Wilfred Mott, a companion to television's Tenth Doctor in the Dr. Who series. See less
