Barr Kazer is a BACP Accredited Counsellor working as a school counsellor for the last fourteen years. After her original degree in 1967 she had trained as a primary school teacher and taught in primary schools, mostly in areas of social need, during the next thirty years. Her teaching years were interspersed with bringing up her own children and doing a City and Guilds 'Dress and Design' which she says released her inner creativity. Deciding she wanted to make a difference to the emotional needs of children, Barr retrained as a counsellor, funding her training by creating a literacy programme for three years for BBC Schools. From 2001 she worked as a school counsellor, setting up the counselling service, in a Middle school and a Secondary school. Since 2004, inspired by reading about Gill Morton's concept of Therapeutic Story Telling, she has also run weekly Adventure Tales sessions at her Middle School and in a variety of primary schools and a special school for The Open Toy Box charity. Semi-retired in 2015 Barr continues to run a weekly Adventure Tales group. See less
