Barbara B. Lloyd is a Senior Research Fellow in the School of Social Sciences at the University of Sussex where she was previously Reader in Social Psychology. Barbara is the author of a number of books including Social Representations and the Development of Knowledge (1990, Cambridge) and Gender Identities and Education. The Impact of Starting School (1992, Harvester-Wheatsheaf) with Gerard Duveen. Recently she and Kevin Lucas published Smoking in Adolescence. Images and Identities (1998, Routledge) which describes her current research. She is a Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a Full Member of the British Association of Psychotherapists.
