Arthur A Macdonell
Arthur Anthony Macdonell (1854-1930), born in India was educated at Gottingen University. He matriculated in 1876 at Corpus Christi College, Oxford, and gained a three scholarships for German, Chinese and the Boden Scholarship for Sanskrit. He graduated with classical honours in 1880 and was appointed Taylori an Teachers of Ger-man at Oxford.
