Ann Dally
Ann Dally was the first woman to study medicine at St Thomas' Hospital, London. As a doctor she was first a general practioner then a psychiatrist. After retiring, she studied for a doctorate at the Wellcome Trust Centre for the History of Medicine, and then became an Honarary Research Fellow to the Anatomy Dept of University College, London. This is her 13th published book: her titles include Women Under the Knife; Inventing Motherhood; and The Intelligent Person's Guide to Modern Medicine.
