Anita McCune Witt's first book, The History of Missouri Heights, was published in 1998. The Last of the Cowboys was published in 2002, and is a collection of reminiscences from local cowboys describing their lives as youngsters and growing into manhood on ranches founded in the early 1880s by their grandparents all over the world, who settled in the beautiful Roaring Fork Valley and beyond.
