Alphonse Bisignano
Bisignano became a boxer at age 16, and at 18 he won the Iowa light-heavyweight championship. He then went to New York and became a professional wrestler. He returned to Iowa in 1939 and opened Babe's Restaurant in downtown Des Moines, which featured Italian and American food. It was a popular restaurant for over 50 years. He is now retired.
