Allan D. Hunter became one of the first male women's studies majors in 1985 at the State University of New York at Old Westbury, graduating with a BA in 1988. "Same Door, Different Closet: A Heterosexual Sissy's Coming-Out Party" was published in the journal "Feminism and Psychology 2 (3)" in 1992 and reprinted twice in subsequent anthologies. A second theory paper, "The Feminist Perspective in (and/or On) the Field of Sociology" was published in 2006 (Readings in Feminist Theory, Ed. S. M. Channa, Cosmo Publications). His novel, "GenderQueer: A Story From a Different Closet," published by Sunstone Press, is a coming-of-age coming-out story from the genderqueer vantage point, an identity only recently on the social radar.
