Alexandra Bach-Weidmuller is a first-time author with an immense passion for pet rescue and humane education. She grew up in a family of teachers in Germany. Books and education were firm cornerstones of her upbringing, as was a love for animals. From an early age, she was drawn to caring for pets; any pets, including dogs, cats, fish, turtles and tadpoles. Her dog sister, a Dalmatian named Astra, ignited her love and passion for dogs. Alexandra has volunteered in dog rescue for more than 15 years. She has seen firsthand what overfilled shelters and euthanasia look like. She is a volunteer with Last Hope K9 Rescue, a Boston organization that has saved over 10,000 lives since its inception in 2012. When Alexandra and her husband felt they could finally offer a dog sufficient time and attention, they adopted Sofie. Sofie, like many rescue dogs in the US, was born in the South and thanks to rescue organizations, saved and adopted in the Northeast. Sofie transformed their lives. Alexandra is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). She lives in the Boston area with her husband and soul mutt Sofie. See less
