Dr. June P. Murray grew up in New Haven, Connecticut. Following high school she attended Boston University, was married and had two children. Dr. June P. Murray grew up in New Haven, Connecticut. Following high school she attended Boston University, was married and had two children. She relocated from Boston to New York City where she earned a Master in Clinical Social Work specializing in Family therapy. She then relocated to California where she earned a Ph.D. in Psychology and Ethnic Studies at U. C. Berkeley. Dr. Murray's professional career includes many years in academia at major universities where she taught Social Work, Psychology and Gerontology courses, Chaired two university departments, conducted original research, and served on the faculty committee at North Carolina State University in Raleigh that developed the Academic and Cultural Exchange Program with the University of Ghana in Legon, West Africa. Dr. Murray has also served as a Diversity Trainer for multiple corporations, municipalities, hospitals and non-profit agencies helping people unlearn their ethnic and cultural biases. In addition to her academic career, Dr. Murray has maintained a Clinical Practice since 1982, and has provided services to individuals and parents who have been adopted or who have adopted. Her special interest in this specialty stems from her adoption as an infant, which is also what has given rise to her current book: "Guess What!? I Was Adopted."
