Adrian Scott's unusual childhood, due to health problems caused by the Rheumatic Fever epidemic, which gripped Australian children in the 1950s, led to an early interest in writing and research. Stopped by his parents from pursuing Journalism or a Commercial Art career, he left school at age 15, held a series of jobs during the next six years, and in 1965 joined the Royal Australian Navy. Married in 1969, he left the navy in early 1970. His first marriage ended in 1975. In 1980, he married his second wife, Penny. In 1984, he and Penny and their three daughters moved to Bundaberg, Queensland. He undertook university studies at Mitchell College of Advanced Education, gaining an Associate Diploma, majoring in Theatre Arts and Journalism, then a degree in Communications after moving to Queensland in 1984; followed by a Graduate Diploma in Public Relations, and a Masters in Professional Writing. In 2008, after his daughters had left home, he and Penny sold the family home and moved to a retirement village in Caboolture, Queensland, where he cared for his wife until her death in March 2011 from pancreatic cancer. Also in 2008, he switched from writing short stories in the horror genre, several of which have been published locally, to writing novels. To date, Adrian has written over sixty horror novels, and is even now working on the next one. At 65 plus years of age, he sees no end to his career, putting in up to eight hours a day on his novels. He describes himself as 'addicted to writing'.
