Zemke's memoir is filled with "There I was at 20,000 feet" action; but I knocked it back to four stars because he also deals at length with the oft-boring administrative problems of a group commander Colonel. As well as detailing the evolution of tactics against the Luftwaffe, the book deals at length with the P47 Thunderbolt, and its various improvements. The video he prepared in 1943, Ramrod to Emden, is available on Utube. This book is an excellent companion to the memoirs by Francis Gabreski and Robin Olds, who served under him.
