The strong personalities of Cartimandua and Boudicca are based on recorded history and bring a long past era to life. When Queen Boudicca falls foul of greedy and callous Roman officials, she suffers the terrible consequences of the time. Her terrible anger and thirst for revenge leads to a cataclysmic revolution. Leading an army of 100,000 she burns many cities, including London. Excitement is generated among the Britons when at first she seems to vanquish their oppressors, but this does not last as the military governor manages to defeat her mighty army.
