The seventh volume of music taken from the hundreds of tapes that Benny Goodman willed to Yale University covers a period of time when The King of Swing used pickup (although still all-star) groups, combining veterans with younger talents. This CD has nine selections from a septet with trumpeter Joe Newman, Zoot Sims's tenor and guitarist Attila Zoller. There is nothing surprising about the repertoire (BG generally ignored the novelty pop tunes of the '60s) and this particular unit works well.
