The woodbending handbook, true to British form, provides a very thorough discussion of bending wood, both steam bending and laminate bending. If you pay attention to each point all the really important things revelant to successful bending are covered. It is not, however, a step by step method which is offered. You have to move from principles discussed to procedure by thinking it through yourself. Also, there is quite a strong emphasis on the industry side of things, thus not all of the discussion is relevant to the small furniture shop.
