I started reading this when I was a kid, but the whole idea of nuclear winter just freaked me out and I couldn't finish it. Now, as an adult, I wanted to tie up that loose end and see what it was all about. I haven't read much Whitley Strieber so I don't know how this compares to his other work. The only way I could think of to describe this to a friend of mine was "It's 'The Road' for kids. With wolves."
