A Target on His Back
This is the second book in the Elite Guardians Series, but can be read as a stand alone novel, as each one wrapped up the main storyline by the end of the book. The Elite Guardians are all strong women who have different abilities and areas of expertise who are hired to protect those who need a little extra help. In this case, a teenager hires the Elite Guardians to protect her Uncle Daniel when he is framed for murder and one of his restaurants is torched, both on the same evening. The clues and the "red herrings" keep you guessing as to who hates Daniel so much that they would try to destroy his business, and even take his life. Katie, and her friends, do everything they can to expose the killer or killers before he (or she?) destroys Daniel, while Katie and Daniel also balance a growing attraction for each other. I enjoyed catching up a little bit with characters from the first book and getting to know Daniel and Riley, his neice. I did some guessing as to the guilty one (or ones?) and was partially right, but was never too sure until the end. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a fair review. I look forward to the third book in this series, hopefully coming out in the spring.
